Weekend Foodie Recap

I hope everyone a great weekend!! A an awesome 4th to those that celebrated!!

Everyone is off today but muah; I have TONS of work to do..so I've gotta make this semi-quick ;-)

Thanks for ALL the sweet comments on my last post..you all made me blush, big time!

We had a fabulous time at the shore, and some good eats!  Dinner on Saturday night was at Steven Starr's restaurant The Continental in The Pier at Caesars...my beautiful sissy in law joined us. We had a looooong night ahead of us,  so we decided not to split a bunch of apps:

My fav thing on the table...The Continental Salad...AMAZING

along with some Edamame :

Shrimp Pad Thai with Tofu:

and this Delishy Salmon with Bok Choy that was out of this world!

After din we had a few hours to kill before heading to Dusk for the b-day party. We had some cocktails at another place in the pier...it was about 50 degrees inside...brrrrrrr!

I swear, in the winter you need a coat for outside, and in the summer some places make it SO freezing inside, you can't even wear a cute outfit out without needing mittens! With that being said, after holding the candle on the table to try and warm up, I decided to order some green tea..

....ridic that I had to do this, but it was yummy :-)

We head over to Dusk for my friend, Carly's b-day party. Twas' fun!
To show you all that it's OK to indulge from time to time...which I do when it pleases me...I put no restrictions on FOOD...good vs. bad. My only intolerance is for NON-FOOD; which I have talked about before (chemicals, fake foods, franken-foods), but real food is another story. We try to go for the most nutritious, closest to it's natural state, MOST of the time...The other 10% of the time, we can treat our taste buds to some REAL FOOD guilty pleasures. With that being said,  for brunch, and I ordered something I haven't had a AGES & it was worth every sugary Belgian waffley bite:

Mmmm.

Remember...allow yourself to indulge on occasion to prevent overall sabotage.

no SINGLE meal makes any significant difference in the long term.

We headed home early; I couldn't wait to see my lil' Munchkin's punim. However, needed to make a stop at the farm before I could get home to him:

I love only spending $6. on produce...didn't get much...but still, even when I go to Whole Foods for a few things, the bill is NEVER under $25.

Since Michael got a sandwich from a place down the shore (where there is NOTHING for me) I decided to make a meal from what I had at home and a few things I picked up at the farm

The ONLY canned food products I will buy! Eden Food cans are all BPA-FREE

Here's a blurb from their site:

All 33 Eden Organic Beans including Chili, Rice & Beans, Refried, and Flavored, are cooked in steel cans coated with a baked on oleoresinous c-enamel that does not contain the endocrine disrupter chemical, bisphenol-A (BPA). Oleoresin is a non-toxic mixture of an oil and a resin extracted from various plants, such as pine or balsam fir. These cans cost 14% more than the industry standard cans that do contain BPA. The Ball Corporation tells us that Eden is the only U.S. food maker to date to use these BPA free cans and we have been since April 1999.

I cooked the beans up and threw in a little Zucchini from the farm

Mashed up half an  Avocado threw it in a grilled  brown rice wrap, topped it with some of the bean and zucchini & tomato for din:

The leftover rice mix & the other half of the avocado went into Nori Wraps today for lunch:

These were REALLY good!

Got a great workout in today!! 3.5 miles on EFX..and a back & core workout. Had a client early, so it was nice getting the gym in right after that!
It's over 100 degrees here...yuck! Only getting hotter.....sucks having to keep the air running so much...but it's WAY too brutal out there to not!!!

Hope everyone is enjoying their day!! I picked a name for the new site....as much as I would love to keep "The Fitness Riot" it's just less risky this way...I will be sharing all the new info soon!!! Thanks to EVERYONE that voted!!!
Stay tuned!!!!
Also planning one of my super informative posts on digestion this week....should be a good one :-)

Questions:

What's your favorite "guilty pleasure?"

Do you shop at a farm or a super market or both?
Do you buy local over organic if "local and organic" items are not available..only organic" from another country, or local from down the road?

xoxo
